Raw Materials for Sunglasses

A frame and a pair of light-filtering lenses are the raw materials for sunglasses. These lenses can in turn be made of different materials ranging from colorized plastic and polycarbonate to glass. Brands providing quality to their consumers incorporate high-quality glass whereas the larger population goes for tinted lenses to help minimize the glare. Poorly tinted lenses make it difficult for you to discriminate between the colors. A similar problem also arises with lenses that are colored darkly than usual. The Manufacturing Process

Step 1: First thing first, a colorant is added to the lens. It can be done by two methods. It can be done by either adding color to the molten lens or color is added after the lens is made.
Step 2: After adding additives, the lens is shaped into a proper mold.
Step 3: A curve generator then works on the lens. It trims off the edges to make it properly fit into the frames.
Step 4: The lenses are now coated with an anti-reflective material.
Step 5: Now, as these lenses are prepped, they are fixed into the frames. Frames are designed to hold these prepped lenses in place.
Step 6: Metal frames hold the lenses in place by being worked into screw mount designs.
